Nikolo Bertok is Bratislava born young designer who chose London in 2008, as a melting pot of fashion, to gain experience for his creative portfolio. He successfully finished his studies at Middlesex University and was awarded with BA Hons Fashion degree in July 2011.
Nikolo´s work represents a mixture of traditional and contemporary style. Inspired by everyday life and its influence on people who are truly passionate about fashion, he creates two seasonal collections every year since 2008. The precollections take the place each season to complete the main collection. His previous experience shows his strong ability
and personality and reflects in his collections. The woman he designs for is strong, alert and looking for details. She wants to be dressed very simply but she loves attention as she wants to feel desired. The man shows his masculinity through the construction details and patterns. As a dreamer he struggles between the emotional life and reality.
Since 2000 Nikolo Bertok converted every challenge into succes. In his early years he first gained experience in fabric showroom, where surrounded by fabrics and creative materials, it was just a question of time before he deciced to create the fashion himself. While working in custom made and ready-to-wear area from 2006 to 2008 he grasped his chance to collaborate with labels such as Louisa Spagnoli, Roberto Botticelli, Coccinelle, GF Ferre, Versace, Dolce and Gabbana, Roberto Cavalli and Givenchy.
At the same time his first evening dresses were designed. Nikolo also collaborated with italian shoe designer label Baldinini to create a shoe look book for season 2008. During these fruitful years, Nikolo also worked on many other editorials and fashion projects. Some of this work can be seen in COLLECTIONS - editorial section.
Visually perceiving the silhouettes, construction and details of the clothes Nikolo was working with during the fashion shows he assisted on (Thomas Sabo, Dolce and Gabbana, Cavalli, Jitrois and many other designers), he got all he needed to apply for a degree at Middlesex University in London. From 2008 to 2011, Nikolo turned into a busy full-time fashion student and absorbed as many information as he could.
From illustrating and understanding the construction of clothes and details, through prints and pattern skills to creating theme collections. His final gradute collection was put through judges ´decision in Graduate Fashion show of Middlesex University in June 2011 and needless to say he succeeded once again.
Showing his collections in New York, at official London Fashion Week, London Art Fair, Brighton or Bratislava has made a huge impact on his already established takes on fashion and has also grown his passion for designing and creating beautiful clothes. From 2012, Nikolo Bertok has established 4 new lines under his main label:
NIKOLO BERTOK is line for custom made designs and evening collections where all customers can get the highest quality and very original design work.
NIKOLO BERTOK LONDON is a new fresh line inspired by London city. It is young and rich in contemporary fashion design work.
GENTLE!MAN is line for men, that are interested in fashion and they like to create their own signuture look with interesting design pieces. In GENTLE!MAN line, two different elements were combined to create the man´s original status. Customer can find there very comfortable and casual clothes which can be combined with the evening ones. Under the NIKOLO BERTOK ACCESSORIES line, the brand new selection of accessories for men and women can be discovered in the first season of 2012, which will be available to buy ONLINE very soon.
The line NIKOLO BERTOK HOME will offer a new selection of high quality home accessories including pillows, blankets, and other unique contemporary design works to make your home beautiful and very fashionable. This line is on a plan to be available ONLINE for a next season in 2012 as a collection for Fall and Winter.
